WHO WE ARE
We are a non-governmental, non-religious and non-political organization that provides social services such as counseling, psychosocial support, empowerment, legal aid, welfare support and skill acquisition to women, girls and youths in Uganda. We seek to increase awareness of groups around the world that work to ensure that people can exercise their rights. We support a diverse array of human rights initiatives in Uganda, from grassroots to national advocacy groups. We are committed to investing in the ongoing transformation of the human rights movement, which in many parts of the country faces a daunting and sometimes dangerous pushback from powerful political forces.
Our mission is to promote and enforce human rights, to engage in relationships that embody the principles of dignity and respect, and to create a culture of human rights compliance and accountability. We act as a driver for social change based on principles of substantive equality. We accomplish our mission by exposing, challenging and ending entrenched and widespread structures and systems of discrimination through education, policy development, public inquiries and litigation.
A world where everyone knows about human rights concepts, and use them for full enjoyment of their daily life.
Integrity
We engage with the world and each other with the honesty, professionalism, accountability, and transparency needed to earn the credibility and trust required to bring about the changes needed to achieve justice for women and girls
Inclusiveness
We oppose discrimination and exclusion in any form and fosters inclusion, collaboration, trust, and respectfulness through our actions
Tenaciousness
We have the courage to do the right thing and speak out even in the face of strong opposition, and promote positive, hopeful messages of change
Perseverance
We also know that people and institutions take time to change and that bringing people to new ways of thinking requires creativity, determination, and resilience, so we persevere
